Nabin Sharma, the Principal of Sangeetika Music School and Shruti’s father, is initially portrayed as a strict traditionalist. He enforces rigid rules, allowing Shruti only one performance every six months, believing that "familiarity breeds contempt."

He strongly opposes Shruti's group performance, fearing it will drown her individual style in the "hubbub of an orchestra." When he discovers it is an Indo-western fusion concert, his disapproval deepens into silence, reflecting his initial resistance to modern musical forms.

However, his attitude evolves when his wife, Leela, reminds him of his own past. Nabin had rebelled against his family of traditional vocalists to play the violin, which was then considered a Western instrument and a betrayal of family values.

This reflection makes him realise his fears were baseless. He admits he underestimated the power of their own music and accepts that "each bay, its own wind." Nabin transforms from a rigid purist to a supportive father, ultimately rooting for Shruti's fusion group at the concert.
