Tricki was certainly enjoying his time at the surgery, so he might not have been entirely happy to leave. Earlier, Tricki had been listless, lying motionless, and refusing food. At the surgery, he recovered beautifully, enjoying the company of other dogs and keeping up well with them. This shows he loved his new, active environment.

As for what will happen now, it is highly likely that Mrs. Pumphrey will revert to her old habits. She was extremely distraught when Tricki fell ill, but her excessive pampering and overfeeding were the root causes of his bouts of vomiting and illness.
