📖 Your Story

You are an apprentice at 'Green Hands Carpentry,' an eco-friendly furniture workshop in Kerala. Your mentor, Master Carpenter Lakshmi, is teaching you about different types of wood and how to select the right material for each project. The workshop receives orders from all over India, and you must learn to identify woods and match them to their best uses.

What You'll Learn

  • Differentiate between hardwood and softwood using the fingernail test and tree characteristics.
  • Identify common Indian trees (babool, mango, jackfruit, pine, deodar, eucalyptus, teak) and their wood applications.
  • Select appropriate wood types for different carpentry projects based on properties and project requirements.
  • Understand workplace and internet safety practices in carpentry contexts.

How to Play

1Read each wood identification challenge carefully and use the fingernail test concept to analyze samples.
2Match wood types to their correct applications based on properties like hardness, durability, and workability.
3Select appropriate materials for given project requirements, considering sustainability and ease of use.
4Complete all three missions to earn your Wood Selection Certificate.
